How to Unlock All Gliders in Enshrouded - Complete Guide

Introduction to Gliders

Gliders are essential mobility tools in Enshrouded that allow you to traverse the massive open world efficiently. With the extensive map in Enshrouded, gliders become invaluable for covering large distances, descending from heights safely, and exploring hard-to-reach areas. There are four tiers of gliders, each offering improved performance and capabilities.

Gliding in Enshrouded

All Glider Types

Enshrouded features four different gliders:

  1. Basic Glider - Craftable early game at Workbench
  2. Advanced Glider - Requires Carpenter NPC
  3. Extraordinary Glider - Late game, requires multiple crafting stations
  4. Ghost Glider - Special quest reward with unique crafting

Basic Glider (Tier 1)

Recipe Requirements:

Crafting Station: Workbench

Materials Needed:

  • 2x String
  • 2x Animal Fur
  • 2x Shroud Spores
  • 8x Shroud Wood

Crafting Glider

How to Get Materials:

String

Recipe: Plant Fiber → String

  • Collect Plant Fiber from small bushes
  • Bushes found in grassy areas everywhere
  • Very common resource

Animal Fur

Sources:

  • Loot from dead animals (deer, wolves, bears)
  • Found in tents while exploring the world
  • Hunt wildlife for consistent drops
  • Common early-game material

Shroud Spores

How to Obtain:

  • Dropped by shroud enemies when defeated
  • Farm enemies within the Shroud (purple fog areas)
  • 2 spores needed for basic glider (easy to get)

Shroud Wood (Most Important)

Chopping Shroud Wood

Where to Find:

  • Only found inside deep shroud areas
  • Look for trees still standing in the Shroud
  • Regular Wood Logs are everywhere, but Shroud Wood is special

How to Collect:

  1. Enter deep shrouded areas
  2. Find shrouded trees (dead/corrupted looking trees)
  3. Chop these trees with your axe
  4. They drop Shroud Wood instead of regular Wood Logs
  5. Need 8 Shroud Wood for your first glider

Important Notes:

  • While regular wood can be found almost anywhere
  • Shroud Wood can only be found in deep shroud zones
  • Bring Shroud Survival Flasks for longer farming time
  • Mark Shroud Wood tree locations on your map

Prerequisite: Workbench

To craft the Workbench first:

Workbench Recipe:

  • 3x String (from Plant Fiber)
  • 8x Wood Logs (chop normal trees)

Where to Place: Your base area

How to Use the Glider

Equipping Your Glider:

Equipping Glider

Step-by-Step:

  1. Open your Character tab (Inventory)
  2. Find the Glider equipment slot
  3. Click the empty Glider slot
  4. Equip your crafted Glider

Activating the Glider:

Controls:

  • Jump once - Normal jump
  • Jump again while in air - Deploy glider

Detailed Steps:

  1. Run towards a cliff or high point
  2. Press jump to leap off
  3. Press jump again while airborne
  4. Glider deploys automatically

Flying Controls:

PC Controls:

  • A and D keys - Steer left and right (NOT mouse)
  • W key (Forward) - Plunge downwards
  • Right Mouse Button - Close glider mid-flight
  • Directional keys - Change direction

Controller (Xbox/Gamepad):

  • B Button - Close glider
  • Much more intuitive than keyboard controls

Important Control Notes:

  • Glider control is more intuitive with gamepad
  • On PC, use directional keys (A/D), not mouse
  • Pressing Forward makes you dive down
  • Cannot gain altitude - gliders only descend
  • Avoid pressing forward unless intentional dive

Glider Mechanics:

Stamina Drain:

  • Gliding slowly drains stamina
  • Not fast, but continuous
  • Don’t glide with low stamina - you’ll fall and die
  • Ensure decent stamina before long glides

Landing:

  • Crash into cliffs or ground while glider is active
  • No fall damage if glider is deployed
  • Character automatically rolls on impact
  • Safe landing guaranteed with active glider

Duration:

  • Glider stays open until you close it (right-click/B button)
  • Or until you land/crash
  • Can glide very long distances with enough height

Tips for Gliding

Exploration Tips:

  1. Climb High First - More height = longer glide
  2. Use Ancient Spires - Fast travel to high points
  3. Combine with Grappling Hook - Grapple up, then glide
  4. Scout Before Gliding - Know your destination
  5. Mark Landing Zones - Place waypoints for targets

Combat Considerations:

  • Cannot glide in combat - Must be out of combat
  • Escape Tool - Glide away from danger
  • Ambush Prevention - Glide over hostile areas
  • No Fall Damage - Safe retreat from any height

Stamina Management:

  • Check stamina before gliding
  • Eat stamina food before long glides
  • Don’t start with low stamina
  • Emergency landing if stamina runs low

Advanced Techniques:

Dive Bombing:

  • Press forward to dive quickly
  • Gain speed for longer distance
  • Deploy again to catch yourself
  • Risk vs reward mechanic

Long Distance Gliding:

  • Find highest points (mountains, spires)
  • Minimal forward input
  • Let glider naturally descend
  • Cover massive distances

Common Mistakes

  1. Forgetting to Equip - Glider must be in equipment slot
  2. Low Stamina Gliding - Fatal falls if stamina runs out
  3. Diving Accidentally - Pressing W/Forward by mistake
  4. Not Farming Shroud Wood - Can’t craft without it
  5. Ignoring Upgrades - Better gliders significantly help
  6. Poor Height Management - Gliding from low points wastes the tool

Troubleshooting

Glider Not Deploying?

  • Check equipment - Must be equipped in Glider slot
  • Double jump - Not single jump
  • Out of stamina - Need stamina to deploy
  • Grounded - Must be airborne first

Can’t Find Shroud Wood?

  • Go deeper into Shroud - Not at edges
  • Look for dead trees - Corrupted appearance
  • Bring Shroud Survival Flask - Extend time
  • Watch shroud timer - Don’t die while farming

Dying While Gliding?

  • Ran out of stamina - Glider closed automatically
  • Closed glider manually - Don’t press close button
  • Started with low stamina - Always check before gliding

Glider vs Grappling Hook

Both are essential mobility tools:

When to Use Glider:

  • Horizontal long-distance travel
  • Descending from heights
  • Exploring open areas
  • Avoiding ground enemies

When to Use Grappling Hook:

  • Vertical climbing
  • Crossing specific gaps
  • Required progression points
  • Short, precise movements

Best Strategy: Use both together

  • Grapple up to high point
  • Deploy glider for long distance
  • Maximum mobility combination

Progression Checklist

Early Game Priority:

  • Build Workbench
  • Farm Shroud Wood (8x)
  • Collect Animal Fur (2x)
  • Get Shroud Spores (2x)
  • Craft Basic Glider
  • Equip and practice gliding
